I detected a real dislike of foreigners last time I was in hawaii several years back...saw a LOT of hawaiin flags, and very few (none?) U.S. Flags

almost got into a shouting match with a "native" at the car rental company when I was just trying to return my rental car - not much of what used to be called the "aloha spirit"

seems like every island and other word now has to have an extra "i"/"eee" sound at the end of it

so if these stupid natives want their little island back - LET THEM HAVE IT!

go back to living in grass huts and killing wild boar and roasting them in those stupid pits all lit by tiki torches

and forget about all those U.S. dollars coming your way and, probably even more, all those Japanese tourist dollars

God I hate ungrateful people...let em go back to their grass skirts and see how long they last on their own!

I would like to see this become the new Republican slogan...the issue of illegal aliens effects every branch of our economy, security, and well being as a nation

but HOW do we get Republican elected officials behind this issue?...they all seem eager to adopt so many pro-illegal issues it leaves me totally baffled

mccain had to be dragged kicking and screaming just to support building a fence, for God's sake...and where is that fence?...I don't think it ever happened

let me propose 3 main pillars for the ILLEGAL is ILLEGAL 1 2 3 movement:

1. build the border fence

2. prosecute employers who hire illegals

3. eliminate government handouts for illegal aliens

if Republicans can figure out how to get on the right side of this issue, they can save the conservative movement...if not, with 30 million illegals, plus the "family members" they bring in if they get amnesty, you can kiss any wins in national elections good bye for the foreseeable future

isn't it interesting how you can find a well respected economist to subscribe to almost any position you like?...obama has his team supporting his efforts...Bush had his experts...Clinton, Poppa Bush, Reagan, all had their armies of great financial minds, and all so different on how to handle the reigns of the U.S. econonmy

obama is coming out with his new budget as I write this...not much surprise in that he plans to tax the rich and tax businesses

why can't these guys see a benefit in eliminating the capital gains tax?...what's the downside of getting rid of this tax that punishes entrepreneurs and others willing to invest in developing America's businesses?...zero the capital gains, and watch the American economy skyrocket once again

but it won't happen under this administration and this congress...the democrats seem to have their act together much better than the Republicans did when they were in the same situation 8 years ago...the Republicans looked totally disorganized and splintered without direction...so far, the democrats look to remake America in their liberal image

I remember visiting a friend in D.C. some years ago and looking at a Washington Post she had saved from the JFK era...what struck me about that paper was reading "for rent" want ads that plainly stated "no colored" in the ad...right there in the Washington Post from the 1960's, right here in America...hard to believe, isn't it?

for some unknown reason(s), obama and the dnc have spent around $500,000 or more defending obama from having to release his real birth certificate...obama also has refused to release a ton of other information that candidates standardly release...doesn't anyone wonder why?...obviously, the mainstream media (the "disciples" as Limbaugh deliciously describes them), doesn't care that obama seems to have something to hide

it makes you wonder if obama had some other reasons for his trip to Hawaii to supposedly visit his sick grandma whom he previously threw under the bus as a typical racist...Hawaii officials seem to be the only ones saying obama is a natural born citizen...everyone else seems to be saying he was born in Kenya...his Kenyan grandmother and Kenyan ambassadors , are all on record as saying that, and it seems everyone residing there is quite proud of the fact obama was born in Kenya...doesn't it seem there is a big story there somewhere?

so it seems that obamagate is really crystalized in the question:

now, if only we could get that question asked in some press conferences until the obama camp actually decides to answer it

it's quite strange to me that I feel indifferent about b. hussein obama becoming our next president...I voted for McCain...I wanted McCain over obama...but I really didn't want McCain either

conservatives really didn't get a choice in this election

the Republican primaries were set up with states up front that allowed independent and cross-over voting...those are the people that gave it to McCain...the numbers showed conservatives rejected McCain over and over, but the independent/cross-overs loved him...it's evident that those independent/cross-over voters went for obama in large numbers...so the Republican nominating process was sabotaged from the start

not that we really had any good conservatives to choose from anyway

who is going to take the mantle and lead a conservative movement?...my bet is the best chance will come from the crop of Republican governors...senators and congressmen are just too jaded from their D.C. service...something weird happens to even good people when they get swallowed up in the D.C. morass...what popular opinion wants to call "experience" turns you into a McCain, a McConnell, or worse...you want to "compromise" and "get along" and get invited to the parties, and most importantly, get re-elected so you can continue to ride the gravy train

I hope someone steps up soon, cause the campaign for 2012 started yesterday

abortion - the real issue

everyone has a view on abortion...and most rank the issue near the top of their list - especially when it comes to appointing justices or electing politicians

we have anti-abortionists murdering doctors who perform abortions...we have fervent abortion supporters claiming there are no moral questions around "partial birth abortions"...polls show most of us stand somewhere near the middle of these extremes, as one would expect

first off, there are some major problems with the names thrown around in this whole debate...can we just be honest and admit that "pro-life" people are really just "anti-abortion"?...sure, they are "pro-life" - who isn't?...they are probably also "pro-family", "pro-America", and "pro-Christian", but none of these have any bearing to their position on abortion...they are just "anti-abortion" when it comes to any abortion discussion...the reason they refer to themselves as "pro-life" is politically they feel it's much better to be "pro" something than "anti" something

"pro-abortion" people probably really do exist, but most of those called "pro-abortion" by the "anti-abortion" folks are really just "pro-choice"..."pro-choice", by definition, means following through with the pregnancy is an option, or abortion is an option...obviously, people who are "pro-abortion" would think most if not all pregnant women should get abortions - and there are some anti-population growth weirdos who probably fall into this category, but most "pro-choice" people do not

regardless of how you feel about abortion, you should be honest enough to use names properly

what is missing for both sides in this quagmire is the real issue...anti-abortionists call abortion murder...pro-abortionists call abortion a choice...the real issue is: "WHEN DOES LIFE BEGIN?"

if you believe life begins somewhere between conception and birth, you are probably anti-abortion...if you believe life begins at birth you are probably pro-choice (or perhaps pro-abortion)...so the question really becomes "when does life begin?"

most "anti-abortion" folks are also born-again or evangelical Christians...many are also Catholic, as the Pope and the Catholic Church have been consistenly anti-abortion...although the Bible never discusses abortion, evangelical Christians are near unanimous in their opposition to abortion...I urge these Christians to consider there is Biblical support for the concept that "life begins at birth"

Genesis 2:7 "the LORD God formed the man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living being."

this clearly indicates that life begins at first breath...obviously, you can come up with rational arguments to the contrary (beating hearts, etc.), but there is no denying a logical stance for a Biblical position that life begins at birth, based on Genesis 2:7

there are a variety of other issues that should give anti-abortionists pause...birth defects, rape, and incest, just to name a few...how do people feel justified in forcing a woman, or couple, to give birth to a horribly deformed infant?

and from there we walk down that slippery gray slope of increasingly lesser birth defects...Down's Syndrome, spina bifida, Sickle cell, cystic fibrosis, cleft palate, heart defects, diabetes, the list goes on and on...about 250 birth defects can be diagnosed in a fetus...do we really want to force a woman, or couple, to have a child they feel, for whatever reasons, all concerned would be better off by not having in the first place?

these are often painful, and even horrible questions...but I don't think the remedy is a government mandate...pray you or your family are never faced with such a situation

the anti-abortion folks also need to face up to some major inconsistencies...most glaring among these is miscarriage...when a woman miscarries, do we have full blown funerals?...is there a homocide investigation?...is there an autopsy?...no, because we recognize that a fetus is not a person

in spite of the sadness when a hoped for child ends with a miscarriage, we do not treat it the same as when a person dies...even rabid anti-abortionists must concede this point in their own actions...doesn't this make is obvious that there is a difference between a fetus and a person?

but rather than both sides shouting various platitudes and insults at one another, why don't we just accept that the real problem is just our belief of one simple fact?...and that is a question that cannot be decided in this lifetime

as election season again approaches I am always struck by the ongoing efforts to take more and more dollars away from working Americans...initiatives and referendums across the land cry out for additional confiscation of our money...I like to look at who lines up supporting all these tax increases...more often than not it's those who benefit financially

the problem with this scenario is there are a lot of people who are not putting any money in the pot, who are voting to force me to put more money in the pot for them!...you probably can't blame someone for voting to get more of my money...the question is why should they have a vote on my bank account?

we are a society of tax payers and tax receivers...we all receive benefits from tax dollars to some degree (roads, national defense, public education, etc.)...but more and more we are confronted with issues where benefactors of tax increases that pay none of the tax dollars have an equal vote with those of us who DO PAY and often will receive little or no benefit from the specific tax increase in question

it's the scenario of Atlas Shrugged where the over burdened tax payers finally revolt...are we to let America become a nation where a majority of tax receivers control a minority of tax payers?...isn't it time to examine who gets a vote on your money?...isn't there some way to assure those of us who pay the taxes that we aren't being increasingly robbed by those who pay no tax?

I've already written about a fair tax system ...we need to examine the voting system as well
